The Treatment

What Is Therapy?

PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) therapy starts with a small blood draw. The blood is spun in a centrifuge to separate and concentrate the platelets, which are rich in growth factors. That concentrated plasma is then injected into target areas or applied during microneedling to amplify your skin's natural repair process.

Growth factors in PRP signal the body to produce new collagen and elastin, improving skin texture, tone, and elasticity over time. PRP is used for facial rejuvenation, under-eye hollowness, acne scarring, hair loss, and as a powerful add-on to SkinPen microneedling sessions.

Results build gradually over 4 to 6 weeks as collagen production ramps up. A series of 3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart produces the best outcome, with maintenance once or twice a year thereafter.

What to Expect

Before

Stay well hydrated the day before and eat a meal before your appointment. Avoid NSAIDs (aspirin, ibuprofen) for 1 week if possible. Share any blood disorders or medications with your provider before scheduling.

During

A small blood draw is taken from your arm. The sample is placed in a centrifuge for 20 minutes to separate the platelets. The resulting PRP is then injected into target areas using a fine needle, or applied to the skin during a microneedling session. Total appointment time is 45 to 60 minutes.

After

Mild redness and swelling at treatment sites is normal for 1 to 3 days. Avoid strenuous exercise and direct sun for 48 hours. Results develop gradually over 4 to 6 weeks as collagen production increases. Most clients notice continued improvement over 3 to 6 months.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

Is PRP safe?
Yes. Because PRP uses your own blood, there is virtually no risk of allergic reaction or rejection. The procedure uses sterile, single-use equipment and is performed by trained providers. It has a strong safety record across multiple medical and aesthetic applications.
Does PRP hurt?
There is a mild pinch with the blood draw, and some brief discomfort during injections. Numbing cream can be applied before treatment. Most clients find the procedure very tolerable. When combined with microneedling, numbing is always applied first.
When do results show?
Results appear gradually starting around 4 weeks after treatment, with the most noticeable improvement at 6 to 8 weeks. Because PRP works by stimulating your body's natural processes, patience is part of the protocol. A series of 3 sessions produces the most significant and lasting outcome.
How many sessions do I need?
3 sessions spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart is the standard recommendation for most skin concerns. Hair loss clients may need 4 to 6 sessions for optimal density improvement. After your initial series, annual or semi-annual maintenance keeps results sustained.
What skin concerns does it treat?
PRP addresses fine lines, skin laxity, uneven texture and tone, acne scarring, under-eye hollowness, and hair thinning. It works especially well when combined with SkinPen microneedling, which creates micro-channels that allow the PRP to penetrate more deeply into the skin.
