What Is Facials?

Custom facials at Maeven begin with a thorough skin assessment. Your provider evaluates your current skin condition, asks about recent products and lifestyle factors, and builds a treatment protocol in real time. No two sessions are identical because your skin changes constantly.

A session may include steam, enzyme exfoliation, manual extractions, a targeted mask, serums, LED light therapy, or lymphatic drainage facial massage. The combination is chosen based on what your skin needs that day. Sensitive skin clients will receive a completely different approach than someone dealing with congestion or hyperpigmentation.

Sessions run 60 to 90 minutes and include work on the neck and decolletage. The experience is relaxing as well as corrective. Regular facials every 4 to 6 weeks maintain skin health and allow your provider to track your progress and adjust your plan.

What to Expect

Before

Remove makeup before arriving if possible. Share your current skincare routine and any products you have started or stopped recently. Mention if you have active breakouts, a recent peel, or any allergies. No special preparation is required for most clients.

During

Your provider begins with a thorough skin analysis, then builds your treatment protocol for that session. The treatment is relaxing and includes steam, exfoliation, any necessary extractions, masking, serum application, and a facial massage. The full session runs 60 to 90 minutes.

After

Light redness may be present for a few hours after extractions. Skin typically glows after a facial. Avoid strong actives like retinoids and acids for 24 hours. Skip heavy makeup the same day if possible. Drink water and wear SPF.

Common Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between this and HydraFacial?
HydraFacial follows a consistent device-driven protocol with standardized serums. Custom facials are entirely hand-crafted to your skin at each visit, with complete flexibility in ingredients, techniques, and focus areas. Some clients prefer one over the other; many rotate between them.
How often should I come in?
Every 4 to 6 weeks is the standard recommendation. Your skin completes roughly a 28-day cell cycle, so this frequency aligns with natural turnover. Regular facials maintain the progress between sessions and allow your provider to catch changes in your skin early.
Can I get one before an event?
Yes. Schedule your facial at least 1 week before an important event. This allows any redness from extractions to fully resolve and gives the skin time to reflect the benefits. A facial the day before an event is not recommended.
What if I have active breakouts?
Active acne is not a reason to skip a facial. Your provider adjusts the protocol to address breakouts safely, avoiding techniques that could spread bacteria or cause irritation. Treatments for acne-prone skin focus on reducing congestion and calming inflammation.
Do I need a consultation first?
No. Your skin assessment happens at the start of your appointment. Simply arrive clean-faced and ready to share what your skin has been doing lately. Your provider handles the rest.
